Born in Tokyo in 1947, he was raised in Paris and Washington D.C., though he ended up at the Banff School of Fine Arts in 1970 and founded Stonecrop Studios in Canmore four years later. As with many artists, his chosen career gave way to his passion for art, as he was trained in physics before moving to music and then ceramic/metalwork. His current works are in steel, copper, bronze, and aluminum, which he skillfully turns into sculpture, architectural features, and numerous public art projects in Calgary. His works in copper would look amazing on the Great Room walls, bringing warmth and curved shapes, while aluminum “Land buoy” would be a great point of interest in the backyard.

“The work deals with thresholds and contradictions: between materials, between the rational and the intuitive, the dynamic and the passive, the functional and the non.”

PUBLIC COMMISSIONS OR COLLECTIONS
Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Alberta Investment Management Corporation, Alberta Treasury Branches, Amoco Oil, ATCO Resources, BC Hydro Authority, The Banff Centre School of Fine Arts, Banff Springs Hotel, The Canadian Museum of Civilization, Canadian Crafts Council, Canadian Utilities Ltd., CBC Calgary, City of Burnaby, British Columbia, City of Calgary, Alberta, City of Edmonton, Alberta, City of Lethbridge, City of Lloydminster, Alberta/Saskatchewan, City of New Westminster, British Columbia, Claridge Collection, Esso Resources Calgary, Gardiner Museum, Toronto, ICG Resources, Government of Alberta, Government of Canada, International Academy of Ceramics, Lancaster Building, Calgary; Massey Foundation, Mount Royal College, Calgary, Alberta; Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, Edmonton, Peter and Catharine Whyte Foundation, Placer Cego Resources Ltd.; Public Library, City of Burlington, Washington; Office of the Prime Minister of Canada, Riveredge Foundation, Syncrude Resources, Town of Canmore, Alberta, TransCanada Pipelines Ltd.; University of British Columbia, Vancouver, B.C., Racine Art Museum, Racine, Wisconsin.

Canadian Artist Tony Bloom 3-D Copper Metal Wall Art Post Impressionism Brutalist Seated Family Circa 1970's

Measurements: 6.25"H x 6.25"W x 3.5"D (15.88cm x 15.88cm x 8.89cm)

Markings: Bloom

Weight: 1.4 lbs.

Fantastic and intricately detailed 3-D Copper wall sculpture by the World renowned Canadian artist and sculpture, Tony Bloom.
