Superb modernist quasi Cubism style heavy sculpture by Karin Swildens for Austin Productions. Sculpture is made out of Durastone ceramic and was created on an internal steel wire frame. Sculpture has been completely restored and painted in a stunning deep bronze color. It is in mint, new again condition.

Drawing was her first love but in the early 80’s Karin started carving wood sculptures and soon after discovered clay, which has been her preferred medium ever since. Born in the Netherlands and raised in Morocco, Karin studied art in Paris, France. After her studies she worked on the restoration of “Le Louvre Museum” paintings, illustrated children’s magazines, was the author and illustrator of a children’s book “Poutou et Pitchoun” published by Dessain et Tolra, Paris and designed scarves for Hermès. In 1980, shortly after coming to the United States she began to create wood sculptures as a way to see and touch the “other side” of her paintings. By 1982 she focused her energy on clay and has loved it with a passion ever since.
