Leonia silversmiths Charles (1910-1979) & Grace (1915-1999) Cole practiced their craft for over 20 years. They gave classes in their workshop on Woodridge Place and did commission work which included not only jewelry, but silver items such as candlesticks, creamers, sets of silverware and more. Some of their commissions came from Georg Jensen and Tiffany's. The Coles started out by taking sample cases on sales trips to upstate New York before settling into their Leonia workshop and teaching. Eventually the Coles began spending summers in the Southwest where they brought back Indian arts & crafts to sell along with their own designs in silver and gold, they also gave lectures on the Indians to various organizations.
