Paula Häiväoja
(1929 - 2011) Was the first female Chief Designer of Kalevala Jewelry. She graduated from the School of Arts and Crafts as a fashion artist in 1953 and started as a designer at Kalevala Jewelry three years later. Then as the head designer between 1963 and 1967. She then went on to open her own shop. She earned her degree at the Aalto University School of Art, Design and Architecture in 1953. The ultramodern silver jewelry designed by Häiväoja looks just as futuristic today as it did more than half a century ago. The silver rings designed by Paula Häiväoja in the 1960s are not only examples of Häiväoja's characteristic design language, but also contemporary images of the open-mindedness and faith in the future of Finnish design in the 1960s.  As an artist, Häiväoja was a leading Finnish modernist designer and pioneer.
