Collection: Kimberly Keyworth
Kimberly Keyworth is a California artist who lives and works in the Bay area. She attended California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland and the University of California, Berkeley during the 1980s. Keyworth currently makes jewelry in her studio in Oakland, California. Keyworth during the 1980s started using precious metals for color. She made shapes cut from bronze, copper, brass, silver, and solid gold and fused them onto silver which produced a mosaic of various precious metals. In 1998 Keyworth migrated to enamel after experimenting with various precious metals during the 1980s. She devised a method of producing torch-fired enamel which is her current style of jewelry making. Keyworth stated: "...In both my enameling and metalwork, I explore the relationship between color, pattern, and surface texture. I am particularly attracted to and influenced by the design, pattern, and form of African artifacts, fabrics and masks, decorative motifs from pre-Columbian Mexico, and repetitive patterns and textures found in nature..."
